Christopher Perreira earned his Ph.D. in Literature and Cultural Studies at UC San Diego in 2015. His research and teaching interests focus on critical race and ethnic studies, Chicana/o literature and cultural theory, critical prison studies, colonialism and empire, American studies, cultural studies, and speculative fiction. He is at work on his first book, "Manufacturing Prisoner-Patient Consent: Race, Memory, and Violence in the Medical Archive," which traces representations of prisoners in literature, scientific journals, and other medical archives produced in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Professor Perreira teaches courses in critical prisons studies, research methods in American Studies, and Latina/o speculative/science fictions.
