How to Borrow Latin American Studies Resources
Instructions for Educators
Materials are on loan free of charge to educators at all primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities in the US. Materials may only be used for classroom or research purposes. The center can lend items for a maximum of two weeks to off-campus users, and for one week to KU faculty, staff, and graduate students. Patrons should reserve materials at least two full weeks prior to the day on which they are needed. Individuals who have not given prior notice can check out materials only if the items have not already been reserved by another party for a given date. The Center will notify borrowers if requested items are unavailable. A maximum of four items may be borrowed at one time. For special events which may require more than four items please contact the Center of Latin American Studies for special consideration. All resources must be returned immediately following their scheduled show date. All items sent by US mail should be post marked at least three days prior to their due date. The borrower will be held responsible for lost or damaged materials. Items returned through US mail should be sent by first class or priority mail. Following the due date, a one-day grace period will be allowed for the return of materials. After that date, the center charges a late fee of $5.00 per day. Late fee funds will be used for the acquisition of additional materials. Please contact the center with any questions or concerns by telephone, in person, by email, or regular mail.
Guidelines for Graduate Students
Graduate students enrolled at the University of Kansas are able to borrow from the lending library with certain restrictions. The center cannot lend materials to individual undergraduate students. GTAs can make reservations one week prior to the date materials will be used. They have a lending period of up to one week. GTAs can check out up to four items at a time. Other graduate students cannot make reservations and have a 24-hour lending period. They may check out only one item at a time unless a professor authorizes otherwise.
